JOT (SAMPLE01)

Kibirizi — Nyamagabe

Southern Province, Rwanda · Washed Bourbon

Rwanda is often called the land of a thousand hills. Somewhere among those hills, coffee cherries ripen slowly in the cool mountain air before making their way down narrow roads to the Kibirizi washing station.

This lot comes from smallholder farmers in Nyamagabe, where most farms are tiny garden plots planted with Bourbon variety trees. At around 1,771 meters above sea level, the altitude allows the cherries to develop dense structure, vibrant acidity, and refined sweetness.

After harvest, farmers selectively hand-pick ripe cherries and deliver them to the washing station. The fruit is depulped, fermented in water, then fully washed before being dried slowly on raised African beds. This classic washed process highlights clarity and bright fruit expression in the cup.

In the cup, the profile is lively and structured. Mandarin citrus brings the first spark of brightness, followed by deeper sweetness reminiscent of raisin. As the coffee cools, a crisp note of red apple appears, giving the cup a clean and refreshing finish.

The result is a coffee that feels elegant and vibrant — a classic washed Rwandan profile with bright fruit and remarkable clarity.
