An electrifying artifact of late-’70s samba experimentation, Partido Em 5 is both a celebration of Brazil’s street-rooted partido-alto style and a pointed response to the social currents of its time. Released in 1978, this one-off collaborative project brought together five young samba innovators—Anézio, Zeca Pagodinho, Cláudio Camunguelo, Pedrinho da Flor, and Jovelina Pérola Negra—before many of them became legends. The album is raw, rhythmic, and intensely carioca in spirit, capturing the electricity of backyard rodas and the political soul of samba’s Afro-Brazilian heritage.
