Bossa Jazz' explores the Brazilian jazz groups and artists at the centre of the Bossa Nova explosion of the early 1960s. Vinyl Part 2 charts the sound of groups such as Quinteto Villa Lobos, Quarteto Novo, Balanco Trio, Tamba 4 and Salinas, and important instrumentalists such as Deodato, Paulo Moura, Baden Powell and João Donato. Extensive sleevenotes provide a socio-political context explaining the exodus of many Brazilian artists to USA at the end of the '60s and the development of fusions such as those instigated by Airto Moreira's work with Miles Davis.
