Hubert Laws
The Laws Of Jazz

The Laws of Jazz marks Hubert Laws’ first major foray as a bandleader, establishing him as one of the premier jazz flutists of the 1960s. Before this release, Laws was primarily known as a sideman, but this album highlights his virtuosity, lyrical sensibility, and ability to bridge classical technique with jazz improvisation.
The album captures the early 1960s post-bop aesthetic while exploring the expressive possibilities of the flute — an instrument still relatively rare as a jazz lead voice at the time.
